Thank you both for commenting. Had I access to my parents attic on short notice (they're ten hours away) I would've put his picture up in full uniform. He cut an impressive figure.

Thank you for sharing this. It brought tears to my eyes and reminded me of how my father and his brothers tell and retell the same stories about their father's service during WWII.
